Dr. Ketan Patel graduated, with honours, from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1999. After completing his residencies in Family and Emergency Medicine, Dr. Patel joined Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital (Windsor, Ontario) as an Emergency and Trauma physician. Concurrently, he established two busy community programs: Windsor-Essex HealthyHeart Program (which in 2004, was nominated runner-up for the nation’s Best Physician-Pharmacist team) and the Ambulatory Procedures program, lovingly referred to as the Lumps & Bumps Clinic.
In 2007, Dr. Patel launched the multidisciplinary care programs at the Integrated Circle of Care, Inc. in London, Ontario. This clinic served the greater London community in the areas of: general/family medicine, eye care, wound care, pain/injury management, addiction medicine, clinical research trials (Phase II to IV), and medical skin care. As a mentor to Ontario physicians interested in pain and addiction medicine, Dr. Patel frequently serves as speaker and clinical trainer in these areas. Recently, Dr. Patel and his team have been conducting research and development in the areas of Genomics and Personalized Medicine (the use of predictive genetic tests in long-term health planning) and workplace injury case management. Patients travel to London, Ontario from a wide range of communities to seek Dr. Patel’s unique PainCARE™ and FibroCARE™ multi-faceted care approach.
Kavita completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the prestigious Dean Raabe School of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University in 2000. Upon graduation, she joined the London Health Sciences Centre as a clinical cardiology and oncology pharmacist. With her background in clinically oriented pharmacy practice, she was recruited to lead pharmacist clinical education at Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital in Windsor, Ontario. Upon completion of her contract, she launched the Windsor-Essex HealthyHeart program which received national acclaim.
In 2008, Kavita and her team launched a dedicated pain and addiction clinical pharmacy in London, Ontario. Today, The Circle of Care Pharmacy focuses on the needs of patients in chronic pain and fibromyalgia. Her pharmacy offers medication counselling, compliance monitoring programs, compounding of topical analgesic medications, an array of vitamins and nutritional strategies for pain/fibromyalgia, home medical pain/mobility aids, as well as a preparation of a number of intravenous solutions (Lidocaine, Ketamine, and Myers’ cocktails) for use in the chronic pain program at Integrated Circle of Care.
Since November 2006, Andrew has been an integral partner in the growth of Integrated Circle of Care. He consults and works with executives and entrepreneurs from various business enterprises to help create synergistic partnerships. Andrew’s focus is healthcare/medical/genetics issues and opportunities; and he works together with these companies to develop win-win solutions.
Previously, as SVP, M2 Worldwide; and VP, GSW Worldwide; Andrew has 30 years of broad-based domestic and international general management, marketing, sales, clinical trial and P&L experience, along with extensive advertising and communication knowledge in various business segments, including pharmaceuticals, managed care, healthcare and biotech plus business-to-business, business-to-consumer, telecommunications, and consumer products. He was also President of Grey Healthcare; and VP, General Manager at Sudler & Hennessey.
Raised in rural southwestern Ontario, Anita began her higher education at the University of Western Ontario and then continued with further post-graduate work in Medical Sciences at McMaster University. She has had significant research experience in the areas of gastrointestinal motility, blood disorders, and has been published in peer-reviewed journals. More recently Anita has led several clinical trials and is currently involved in pain, addiction and genomics research.
As the Clinical Manager of the Pain and Addiction Program, she enjoys keeping abreast of the latest research in pain and addiction and the challenge of marrying that knowledge to improved patient outcomes. She strongly believes in the chronic pain or addiction patient as a “life-long learner.” The patient-education modules she has designed helps patients to develop the fundamental skills needed to better self-manage their conditions.
